Congress erupted in fiery debate Monday as Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT) took the House floor and delivered a blistering rebuke of Republicans and President Donald Trump over their stance on Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Calling out Trump’s alignment with Vladimir Putin, Balint accused the GOP of betraying American values by standing with dictators instead of U.S. allies.
“Russia invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine,” Balint declared. “Vladimir Putin is the aggressor, and I stand here on the House floor to say our president will not rewrite the past.”
‘It’s Revolting to Watch’: Balint Unleashes on the GOP
Balint didn’t hold back. Her outrage boiled over as she called Trump a “puppet for a dictator” and slammed her Republican colleagues for blindly following him.
“It’s sick. We are standing with dictators and against our allies?” she asked, visibly frustrated. “I never thought I would see the day when our president would be a puppet for a dictator.”
Then, she turned her attention directly to the GOP members of Congress.
“To my Republican colleagues, did you ever imagine that you would be in a party that stands on the side of dictators?” Balint asked.
Then came the knockout punch:
“Aren’t you embarrassed by what you’ve become? It’s revolting to watch my colleagues side with Russia because Trump said so.”
Trump’s UN Vote Sparks Fury
Balint’s speech came after the Trump administration stunned the world by opposing a United Nations resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
In doing so, the United States sided with Russia, North Korea, Belarus, and Hungary—a shocking break from America’s long-standing alliance with Ukraine and NATO nations.
The move has sparked outrage among Democrats and even some Republicans, who worry that Trump’s pro-Putin stance is isolating the U.S. on the world stage.
‘I’m Not Going to Let Trump Rewrite History’
After delivering her scathing speech, Balint took to social media to double down on her message.
Posting a C-SPAN clip of her remarks, she told her followers:
“I’m not going to let Trump rewrite history.”
The viral clip quickly spread across social media, drawing praise from those who agree that Trump’s loyalty to Putin is dangerous—and criticism from his fiercest defenders.
